Creating Automated Email Campaigns with Mailchimp Customer Journeys


Utilizing Mailchimp's Customer Journey Workflows

Mailchimp's Customer Journey feature enables you to elevate your marketing efforts through advanced automation. Similar to Classic Automations but with enhanced capabilities, Customer Journeys permit multiple entry points and branching paths tailored to customer behaviors.


Follow these steps to build a drip email campaign using Mailchimp Customer Journeys:


1. Access the Customer Journeys Section

  • Navigate to the Automations icon and select Overview.
  • Click the "Create Journey" button.


2. Name Your Workflow and Specify the Audience

  • Provide a descriptive Name for your journey, choose the Target Audience, then click "Start Building."


3. Establish Starting Triggers

  • Click "Choose A Starting Point"
  • Select a trigger action like "Signs Up" that adds contacts to the journey.  
  • Customize settings for each starting trigger.
  • Optionally, apply segmentation filters to the starting point.
  • Click "Save Starting Point."


5. Add Journey Milestones

  • After defining starting triggers, map out the rules and actions by clicking the + icon.
  • Click "Add a journey point."
  • Combine rules and actions to construct your unique customer experience flow.


6. Launch Your Customer Journey

  • Once complete, click "Continue."
  • Specify a marketing objective to enable personalized recommendations and reporting.
  • Click "Turn On" to activate the journey.


7. Monitor Performance and Scheduled Contacts

  • The Customer Journey homepage displays contact counts at each journey stage and key email stats.
  • For paused journeys, click "View Data" to access performance metrics.
  • Click the Report icon on emails to view full delivery stats.
  • See queued contacts at a step by clicking the three dots and "View Contact Queue."


And that's it! Your Mailchimp Customer Journey is now active, delivering personalized, automated emails triggered by your audience's interactions.
