Managing Groups and Admin Permissions in the Users Component

How Do I Add or Remove Groups on my Site?

  • Log in to your SiteStacker installation
  • Choose the Users component and you should see a list of current users on your site.
  • Head over to the Groups tab and find where you would like to Add / Remove a Group.
  • Once you have located the desired group, right-click and select New to add a New Group folder, or choose Delete to remove the specified Group folder.

Note: You can have as many folders as you would like within each high-level Group folder such as Mobilization for example if you had multiple departments of people who would need access.

How Do I Manage Admin Permissions?

  • Log in to your SiteStacker installation
  • Choose the Users component and you should see a list of current users on your site.
  • Head over to the Groups tab and find the folder where you would like to manage user permissions.
  • Once you have located the desired group folder, click it and a list of the different categories will appear.
  • Choose the Create Read Update and Delete checkboxes to be active or not for each category that you would like the people within the specified group to have.
  • When finished, you can test this by impersonating people within the group to check if they have the desired permissions as well as test that they do not for other parts of SiteStacker.

For CRM/Entity Permissions: Changing these will set which ones are visible to certain people when looking at someone's CRM profile.

For Component Permissions:Depending on what is checked, this will either allow or disallow certain people from even seeing these or modifying the information within them.

Groups & Admin Permissions

SAML Groups

SAML Groups allows you to manage Single Sign On that allows you to grant access from a centralized source such as G-Suite or MS Exchange.

Security Tags

Security Tags can be used to add additional permission categories for Notes, Files, and other CRM data points. For example, an HR security tag could be added in order to allow HR admin users to access notes that no other admin users can access.

Tips for User Permissions

  • As much as is possible, the folder structure in Site Planner should match the folder structure in User Groups
  • User Groups should be used for granting admin permissions and page visibility. However, Record Types are a better choice for managing page visibility for external users such as applicants.
  • When you are building site pages with sensitive material, you'll need to do a few things: Make sure each page has the Authenticate setting checked
  • Make sure that the entire folder of pages has a visibility setting applied.
  • If, within a folder, a specific page requires more strict permissions, an additional visibility condition can be set for that page
  • In addition to configuring modules, publishing them, and adding visibility conditions, on the folder and/or page, you'll also need to configure a menu, publish it, and configure visibility conditions for each link
  • Sub-folder user groups can be created within folders. User Group sub-folders (left pane) are for organizational purposes and do not directly relate with one another. Adding a user to a parent folder will not add that user to a child folder, and adding a user to a child folder will not add them to a parent folder
  • Within a folder of group permissions, there may be several levels of sub-folder group permissions.
  • Group Permission Folders and Subfolders (center pane) do directly relate with one another.
  • By checking the box on a parent folder, all child folders will also be checked.
  • Though checking a box on a parent permission will check the box on the child permission automatically, the sub-folder permission can then be un-checked manually.
  • Once a subfolder is unchecked, changing the upper-level permission will no longer affect it.
  • However, to return a sub-folder permission to always match the upper level permission, you can right-click on the sub-folder permission and select Inherit permission (clear existing)
